Tom Halbouty has recently retired after 17 years of service as Vice President, Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer for Pioneer Natural Resources. Tom was responsible for Pioneer’s global information technology strategies for business, operational and scientific computing. He also managed the assessment and tracking of emerging technology and its potential value to Pioneer.
Tom served as an advisor to the Council on Competitiveness in Washington, D.C. regarding sustainable energy policy and next generation manufacturing for 7 years. Tom also vice-chaired the Texas Emerging Technology Fund Advisory Committee for the State of Texas. He formerly served as co-chair of the Texas Nanoelectronics Taskforce for the Governor’s Office. Tom was past vice-chair of Energistics, which establishes software standards for the oil and gas industry.
Tom currently serves on the Cockrell School of Engineering Board of Advisors and as a member of the Texas Workforce Investment Council appointed by Governor Rick Perry.
Prior to joining Pioneer, Tom worked in the energy practice at Andersen Consulting (Accenture). He received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas and his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
