Formation 8 Welcomes Lior Susan as Partner
January 6, 2015
We are pleased to announce that Lior Susan has joined Formation 8. We are very excited to bring his acumen and profound experience to the Formation 8 team as we look ahead to many exciting opportunities together.
Lior is a visionary investor and trailblazer in the hardware technology space. He has led investments in companies such as MC10, GrabiT, Omsignal, NextInput, Edyn, Boardwalk, ImprintEnergy, Lumo and VintagePoint Analytics. In 2013, Lior founded Lab IX, a hardware investment platform with Flextronics, which brings together startups, OEMs and technology partners across the hardware ecosystem. Lab IX has successfully helped early stage hardware startups grow products from prototype to full-scale manufacturing. Lior also co-founded Farm 2050, an AgTech Collective, with Innovation Endeavors to address the global food challenge. Farm 2050’s approach to problem solving aligns with our vision at Formation 8 – collaborating with strategic partners to help visionary entrepreneurs develop and grow their businesses. Prior to Lab IX, Lior was a serial entrepreneur in Tel Aviv and most recently helped build Intucell, which was acquired by Cisco in 2012. Lior is a (Res) of an elite special forces unit in the Israel Defense Force.
We have worked with and respected Lior for several years. We believe that he shares Formation 8’s commitment to transformational and sustainable value creation and our excitement about investing in underappreciated areas. Hardware is a perfect example – with the rise of software, venture investment in hardware has declined drastically over the past 10 years. We believe this gap creates differentiated opportunities to invest in connected world technologies. Based on this thesis, we have invested in Oculus, Leeo, EVA, Grabit and are committed to working with entrepreneurs who are building top hardware companies.
We are thrilled to have Lior bring his experience in hardware to the global Formation 8 team. We look forward to sharing more about our hardware strategy in the coming months. Welcome Lior!
